Student Award

We are excited to announce an incredible opportunity for student researchers – supported by BPGbio – Translational leaders with a long history in mitochondrial focused drug development. 

As part of BPGbio’s commitment to fostering professional development and supporting the engagement of passionate individuals in science, students now have the chance to win one of three student registrations for EBEC2024.

Eligibility

  • Undergraduate and graduate students
    • Postdoc researchers not considered students
  • Conducting research in bioenergetics

How it works

To enter the competition for a free conference registration, simply submit your abstract by following the instructions below.

  • Write your abstract for EBEC2024 – see guidelines here.
  • Send your abstract directly to the BPGbio panel at EBEC2024@bpgbio.com by April 5
  • Receive notification of the outcome by April 22
  • Register with the provided code and submit your abstract for EBEC2024 until April 30
  • If you have already registered and you won the award, you will receive a refund
  • Kindly note: By participating in this process, you give your consent to be named in a social media post/email circular in case you won the award
The selection of the winners will be conducted by an esteemed panel, detailed below, based on the innovative and thought-provoking contributions of the submitted abstracts to the fundamental understanding of bioenergetics.

Early Career Investigator Presentation and Poster Award

At EBEC2024 you have the chance to win an Early Career Investigator Presentation or Poster Award worth 500 €. This award recognizes outstanding research contributions by early career researchers.

The awards will be handed out during the Closing Ceremony on Saturday Aug 31.

Eligibility

Undergraduate students, graduate students, PhD students actively enrolled in a PhD (doctoral) program, researchers with less than 8 years of experience from the date of obtaining their PhD/doctorate (or equivalent) to the date of the conference

How it works

  • Register for EBEC2024
  • Take advantage of the student discount (for undergraduate and graduate students)
  • Submit your abstract by April 30th
  • Judging: Presentations and posters will be evaluated by a panel of experts – further details coming soon.

Rewarded Open Access compensating authors

Together with the MiPsocietyBioenergetics Communications (BEC) is raising funds to reward the first 10 papers accepted for publication in BEC in 2024: 600 EUR to attend EBEC2024 and 2-year MiPmembership.

This initiative aims to recognize and support authors contributing to the field of bioenergetics.

How it works

  1. Submit your manuscript to BEC.
  1. Your manuscript will undergo standard peer review.
  2. If your paper is among the first 10 accepted for publication, you will receive a reimbursement form to return post EBEC2024.

#ScienceForUkraine
Micro Travel Grant Programme

#ScienceForUkraine has launched the Micro Travel Grant Programme to enhance the opportunities for Ukrainian scientists to participate in academic trips abroad. This program provides up to 500 euros per grant, helping to cover travel, accommodation, and participation fees for scientists affiliated with Ukrainian universities.

Eligibility

  • Be actively involved in research;
  • Be affiliated with an eligible Ukrainian organization (Ukrainian universities, research institutes at the NAS of Ukraine, scientific archives, museums, and libraries) in the form of a paid or an unpaid appointment;
  • Be the first author of a research work that has been selected for an oral or poster presentation at an international conference.

  • If selected for a presentation at EBEC2024, fill out  and submit the online application form by July 26 (i.e. no later than 30 days prior to the event)
